Why We Started Our Housing Support Program

HomeBlogWhy We Started Our Housing Support Program

It was over 15 years ago that Hope House Foundation began. With increasing homelessness in the area, we knew that there needed to be a temporary housing support program for women and children who needed a place to live. These families experience homelessness for reasons beyond their control, such as illness, unemployment, or changes in family structure, but our goal is to help them regain control over their lives and make choices that will change their lives for the better.

Why We Started Our Housing Support Program

There are a lot of reasons we started our housing support program. We recognized the need for it in our community, and we wanted to do what we could to help women and children in the area. But more than providing them with shelter, we wanted to provide a comfortable and safe place that they could call home for a short time while they get their lives back in order. We also wanted to help them get the support they need by offering coaching, job skills training, and affordable housing placement to make sure they are able to be self-sufficient.

While these are the reasons we started this housing support program, the reasons we believed it would work all come down to our hope and our values of individual compassion, empathy, and respect; power in human potential; integrity and accountability; pursuit of excellence; and social equality and solidarity.
