In our experience at Hope House Foundation, it is far easier to become homeless than most people realize. Our team works with women experiencing situational homelessness, and they describe losing their housing due to sudden job loss, medical emergencies, deaths in the family, and similar circumstances. We run a housing support program to help keep a roof over their heads during these difficult times and to help them take steps to get back on their feet. Our program receives generous support from donors like you. In this article, we will go over a few of the benefits of our housing support program to convince you to donate.
- Prevent Illness – Our housing support program is designed to help women and their children avoid homelessness. We provide beds for women in need, ensuring they have a safe place to sleep instead of having to live on the streets. Having stable, safe shelter helps these women avoid many of the negative outcomes associated with homelessness—for example, it helps them stay healthier because they have a place to bathe and prepare meals.
- Offer Resources – Another reason why we encourage you to donate to our housing support program is because it provides essential resources to help women build stability after a crisis. Our team connects women with a variety of community resources, including medical care, mental health support, and employment assistance.
- Support Dignity – The third benefit of our housing support program we will cover here is the way it upholds the dignity of our guests. We make sure to support these women’s agency and strength by offering a hand-up, not a handout.
