Our mission here at Hope House Foundation is to provide transitional housing to help women avoid falling into situational homelessness. Women often lose their homes due to a sudden illness or death in the family, which creates expenses that make it impossible for them to stay in their current residence.
We fund our work through charitable donations from community members like you, and many people choose to donate to our cause in honor of a loved one who has passed. In this article, we will go over a few reasons why people have chosen to honor their loved one’s memory with memorial donations.
- Dedicate Money to a Good Cause – In our experience, many families ask funeral guests to make memorial donations to a charity their loved one cared about in lieu of sending flowers or other condolence gifts. This is a way to ensure the money that would have been spent on these items can instead be put to work doing good in the community. If your loved one cared more about people than material things, asking for memorial donations is a good way to honor their spirit.
- Help Others Facing Similar Struggles – Another reason to honor a loved one with memorial donations is because doing so can help others who have faced similar challenges. For example, many people whose loved ones died of illnesses like cancer make donations to cancer research to help other families avoid the same loss. If a woman in your life experienced homelessness or came close to it, you can honor her by donating to our organization to help other women avoid the same experiences.
